Group Show Curation

My first group show began from a conversation I had with fellow classmates about something so mundane: chairs. I shared how I have found many chairs in peculiar places and positions, and how it had become a creative muse for myself. Chairs, as themselves, can also be a form of artistic expression, which served as the goal for each piece of work. Set in several different contexts and the perspective of multiple artists, “A Sitting Impression” came together that explored the idea of a chair.

Solo Art Show

Solo Art Show

I’ve admired the architecture of California State University Long Beach since I first visited the campus. What I had actually fallen in love with was Edward Killingsworth’s architectural style known as “post-and-beam;” the repetition of vertical and horizontal lines with a minimal color palette due to use of primarily wood, metal and brick. In my first solo exhibition, my paintings served as an exaggeration of this style by limiting the gouache paintings into sets of posts and beams.
